Born into a family of Sephardic Jews, Amedeo Modigliani was the youngest for four brothers. At the age of 14 Modigliani contracted scarlet fever, an illness from which he never recovered fully.
In 1898 Modigliani joined a group of painters from Tuscany. Modiglianis held his first solo exhibition in December 1917. Unfortunately the police closed it, as it was deemed immoral due to some of the nude paintings on display. Not a single work was sold. The same year he met Jeanne Hebuterne who was his last companion. They had one daughter also named Jeanne.
Modigliani became addicted to drugs and alcohol and died in hospital in Paris. Within a few hours of his death, Jeanne, who was in the last month of her second pregnancy, committed suicide by jumping from the window of her apartment.

As we paint to order you can tailor your Modigliani painting in any way you want from whether or not to have the artists signature, to changing colours to suit decor, removing details or even changing faces. Have it how you want it. Each painting is a unique work of art, the artist and customer bring a little of their own creativity making each picture an individual master piece.
Each painting after Modigliani takes three to four weeks to complete. A high resolution photograph of every oil painting is sent to every customer for their approval before despatch. We are happy to make any changes customers want at that stage. We would much rather get it absolutely right than have an unhappy customer. Paintings are delivered unframed, rolled up in a card board tube for you to get it framed any way you like by your local framer or frame it yourself. Alternatively look at our frames and framing section for our framing service.
Standard painting size is 24 x 20 inches (approx. 60 X 50 cm). There is extra canvas around the edges to allow for stretching. You can select other picture sizes from the drop down menu on all pictures. Different sizes are priced as a variant to the standard size. Paintings are available in a range of sizes from 20cm x 25cm (8 by 10 inches) up to 90cm x 120cm (36 x 48 inches). Larger sizes are available on request.
Delivery costs £15 for an Modigliani painting to anywhere in the world. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for your painting to be painted and shipped to you by courier.
